A Friendly Face is the first half of the fifty-fourth episode of Big Hero 6: The Series. It premiered on October 12, 2020 and is the first half of the fourth episode of Season 3 alongside "Big Chibi 6".
Synopsis[]
When Krei wants to sell the Mayor an automated fleet of shuttle vehicles, Honey Lemon suggests giving the shuttles a friendly face and an upbeat personality to lower the public's skepticism of Krei's vehicles.
Plot[]
At Krei Tech, Alistair Krei, Baymax and Hiro show Mayor Saito a presentation for new self-driving shuttle buses while also attempting to convince her to sign a contract and buy them. The mayor refuses as she states that ever since Krei's garbage trucks nearly melted the city, the people have less trust in Krei Tech and fear its vehicles as later demonstrated. Krei lies by telling her she'll change her mind when she sees the "prototype", but when she asks to see it, Krei replies that it will be ready by the end of the week. The Mayor agrees to see it by then. But as soon as she leaves, Krei is distressed and tells Hiro that he lied and cannot help doing it. Hiro tells him to calm down as it is possible to make the shuttles friendlier and calls Honey Lemon to come help as she would make for a valuable asset to the project.
When Honey Lemon arrives, she suggest to literally give the shuttles a friendly face so that it can make people happy and more comfortable. Krei agrees, and so the entire group starts to work in the project. Upon completion, Hiro gives Honey Lemon a neurotransmitter in the shape of bunny ears, explaining to Krei that they need to send positive thoughts to the shuttle A.I. in order to give it a personality, and eventually the shuttle will be friendly on its own. Krei however believes it doesn't make sense, but still cares about the money he will make from it. Honey Lemon then goes out to see cute and positive things around the city to fill the shuttle's personality meter, but once it is done, Noodle Burger Boy spies on the team with intentions to steal the shuttle and make it part of his family.
Soon, Mayor Saito is picked up by Krei, Honey Lemon, Hiro and Baymax at a bus stop with the shuttle, and even though the shuttle compliments her, the mayor states that the "real test" is to see how the citizens of San Fransokyo react to it. As they go for a drive, the shuttle befriends citizens and tells them nice things, thus impressing the Mayor and being convinced to sign the contract with Krei. But, before the deal is closed, Crushroom, Hangry Panda, Hyper-Potamus and Noodle Burger Boy catch up with the shuttle and attempt to steal it. Hiro calls Skymax so he, Baymax and Honey Lemon leave the bus in order to gear up and defeat the robots, but while they suit up, the shuttle is taken to the city dump with Krei and the Mayor still inside.
At the dump, the friendly shuttle asks the villain robots who they are, so they express that they're evil and advanced robot mascots, although Big Hero 6 keep defeating them, blaming Noodle Burger Boy for being a bad leader. The shuttle has a conversation with them and tells them to be more supportive of each other, so the robots apologize to Noodle Burger Boy. After seeing how the shuttle helped them fix their issues, Noodle Burger Boy asks if it would like to join their family, to which the shuttle agrees and even suggests to rob a sticker store. Honey, Hiro and Baymax overhear everything, so Baymax suggests that an "anti-pep talk" could work to discourage them. Hiro reprograms Honey Lemon's neurotransmitter so that she can talk pretending to be the shuttle, but it's difficult for her to be negative. Baymax tells her that expressing negative thoughts can also be positive, so Honey Lemon starts telling the robots that they aren't nice and nothing they do matter. Baymax further makes Honey Lemon feel sad by showing her sad puppies, and so Honey Lemon continues to tell the robots that they will all inevitably fail and end up in the garbage no matter what they do.
The robots think about what the shuttle says, so when Hiro, Baymax and Honey Lemon reveal themselves, decide not to attack them. Seeing this, Noodle Burger Boy orders them to retreat but since they won't even move, he picks them up with a garbage truck and drives away. The heroes then save Krei and the Mayor, but the Mayor had already lost interest in signing the contract despite Krei insisting with other bad offers. Because of this, Krei decides that he will melt down the shuttle and turn it to scrap. Honey Lemon immediately tells him not to and instead takes the shuttle to her and Go Go's apartment where she throws a sticker party. Later at night, Go Go arrives at the apartment but upon seeing the party taking place, quickly turns away and leaves.
