Synopsis[]
Hardlight crashes Karmi's autograph session.
Plot[]
At Fred's house, Fred, Go Go, Honey Lemon, Wasabi and Baymax watch Karmi's Big Chibi 6 which had been upgraded from fan-fiction to a fully animated webtoon. Hiro is surprised because he was unaware of it, and gets worried that people will get the wrong idea about Captain Cutie and Karmi being a couple. Meanwhile, Ian is also watching Big Chibi 6 at Krei Tech, and decides it's time for Hardlight to return as he gets a new idea for a "game". While he begins to laugh maniacally, Judy passes by and Ian pretends to be doing something else, although Judy doesn't actually care and keeps walking.
Later at Lucky Cat Café, Hiro plays videogames when Baymax receives a video call from Karmi, since she wanted to tell Hiro that she will be visiting San Fransokyo the next day to do autograph signings at Richardson Mole's Rare Comics shop due to her web series becoming very popular. Hiro talks nervously to her and pretends he is busy, but Baymax says his schedule will be free, so Karmi tells him that she'll be seeing him there then. Aunt Cass notices the call and asks Hiro if Karmi is his ex-girlfriend, mentioning Megan as Cass believed Hiro liked her instead. Hiro becomes embarrassed and simply leaves to avoid continuing talking about it.
The following day Hiro and friends arrive at the comic store at night, but seeing that there's too many people in line, Hiro tries to use this as an excuse to bail out. Fred stops him by saying he bought VIP passes and goes directly in front of the line with Hiro to talk with Karmi. Richardson Mole however tells Fred that the VIP passes' fine print states that "no Fredericksons are allowed" and kicks him out before Fred can talk with Karmi about his "theories", therefore leaving Hiro alone with Karmi as they briefly talk about how things have been ever since she left San Fransokyo. Before they can keep chatting, Hardlight interrupts and traps Richardson in a holographic cube, telling Karmi that he is her biggest fan and her series inspired him to come up with evil versions of Big Hero 6 in their chibi form. Big Hero 6 witness their chibi versions causing trouble in the store, but cannot get their armors because there are too many people watching and would raise suspicion. Karmi tells Hardlight that she doesn't know who he is because she wasn't in the city when he made his first appearance, so Hardlight replies that it's "fair enough" and leaves the store to cause mischief in the city with the chibi clones, then creates a chibi version of himself as well. The team take this opportunity to leave and return all geared up to fight Hardlight and their clones, but most of them feel bad about having to hit "themselves" especially due to the chibis having child-like behavior. Hiro tells them that the clones are just a distraction and should aim for Hardlight instead, but Hardlight begins to create multiple clones of Hiro that attack the team and keep them busy.
Karmi comes out of the store claiming she can help but Hiro disagrees, saying it's too dangerous. Karmi insists to let her fight the Chibi Hiros, so Hardlight commands them to attack her. Surprisingly, Karmi pulls out a gauntlet from her backpack that is similar to Hardlight's, explaining that in her last weeks at SFIT she learned programming after being inspired by "someone" because she realized it would be helpful, and upgraded Hardlight's tech. She then uses the gauntlet to transform the Hiros back to the way she wrote the Captain Cutie character, helping her instead as she is his "girlfriend" in her series. The Chibi Hiros then start attacking Hardlight and take away his gauntlet while Big Hero 6 and Karmi watch, until Honey Lemon tells them they should help him. Hiro then causes the clones to vanish by pressing a button in Hardlight's gauntlet, and the villain is finally arrested with his identity revealed. Judy passes by as Ian is arrested, so he tells her to tell Alistair Krei that he's simply taking some "personal time". Judy is surprised but still doesn't care, simply saying that he will go unpaid.
After the fight, Hiro talks with Karmi as Captain Cutie and tells her that her idea was genius. Karmi reveals that she got the idea from her webtoon's first episode, which Hiro comments had watched it. Both become silent as they start acting awkwardly and get closer to apparently share a kiss until Karmi hesitates as she says that, even though she really used to love Captain Cutie once, no longer does because she realized she started to have romantic feelings toward someone else instead, but only began to realize this after she left SFIT. Although Karmi doesn't mention a name, Hiro knows that she is talking about his alter-ego, so he advices her to "tell him, whoever he is." Karmi thanks him for understanding and walks away as Hiro stares happily. Soon, Honey Lemon startles Hiro saying that she knew both would fall in love with each other someday, though this only annoys Hiro and he walks away. Baymax also mentions Megan as she is Hiro's other romantic interest, but Honey Lemon simply shushes him and tells him to "let her have this".
