The Bonsai Bombers, alternatively known as Banzai Bros. are deleted characters, originally meant to appear in Big Hero 6.
Background[]
The bombers were part of Yokai's gang when initial drafts of the film had him assembling a group of supervillains (including Yama and the Fujitas) to create an interdimensional portal.
Physical Appearance[]
Some artwork showed them as rocket-like characters, while another one showed one of them with a glider.[1] The overall concept seems to have been inspired by real-life Kamikaze aviators.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Flight: The most notable trait of the concepts is that they were capable of flying.
Etymology[]
- Banzai - The word is a common exclamation in Japan, meaning "ten thousand years of long life".
- Bonsai - "Bonsai" (盆栽) is a Japanese art which consists of cultivating small trees in containers that mimic the shape and scale of full size trees. While the word is seemingly unrelated, it sounds similar to banzai, therefore could've been intended to be used as a word play.
