Bot Fighting is a robot fighting sport in which contestants build small remote-controlled robots and have them battle for supremacy.

Bot fighting itself is not illegal and is in fact a popular sport in San Fransokyo, but betting on it is illegal and could result in imprisonment. Many underground bot-fights allow betting, which makes it "lucrative" according to Hiro.

The rules for the underground bot fights are that the players use their robot to fight and the winner would keep the money from both sides once their bot has defeated the opponent's bot. The robot that wins a round will keep fighting until all other bots are destroyed or it is destroyed. To play a round the players must pay in cash and hand it over to the ringleader for safe keeping until the round is over, and the paid money is handed over to the winner.

These competitions usually take place in shady and dangerous places of the city, such as Good Luck Alley.

The sport is inspired by real-world robot combat style games.
