Flexible Display Technology is an invention by Dr. Mel Meyer.
Background[]
Meyer intended it to be used for fun things such as surprise parties, then Alistair Krei approached to buy it. Mel agreed under this condition, but he later found out the technology was used for Buddy Guards, something Mel disapproved of.
Description[]
The technology can be applied to different things, from simple cloth pieces to more complex things like robots.
Appearance[]
While on use, the display's technology shows glowing hexagons. It can be used to turn invisible the thing it was applied to, or give it an entirely different appearance.
Applications[]
- Buddy Guards: The robots primarily use this technology to defend their owners. They have notably turned into Alistair Krei heads as well as Dumpling minions used by Noodle Burger Boy.
- Cloth: A small piece of purple cloth that Krei used to demonstrate the technology's capabilities by duplicating his assistant's face onto him. Mel also used one which he wrapped around his head to duplicate Krei's face onto his own.
- Cloak: A larger piece of cloth that Mel used to turn invisible and surprise people.
- Fredmeleon Suit: A suit created by Hiro based off a chameleon which grants Fred stealth and camouflage abilities.
- Bodysuit: When Hiro was blackmailed by Momakase, he designed suits for her and himself to help infiltrate Yama's building unseen. Later on, Hiro also gave one to Megan Cruz to sneak into the SFPD station.
History[]
After Krei showcased the Buddy Guards, Mel entered Krei's office wearing a Flexible Display Cloak, allowing him to go unnoticed, to complain about the use of his technology and demanded the plans back, but Krei hid the plans and used Buddy Guards to take Mel away.
Later, when Krei went on a date with Aunt Cass, Mel followed both to a restaurant whilst invisible. He surprised Krei at the restroom and tied him up to take his identity and go find the technology's plans at Krei Tech, in order to steal them back.
Big Hero 6 went with Krei to his office once Hiro found out Caas was taken with the "fake" Krei; the team managed to arrive first so they were able to surprise him just as he got the archive. Mel was forced to return the plans but Krei tried to scare him by releasing some Buddy Guards that instead caused chaos in the place, then followed Mel and Cass, who escaped in Krei's limo. Hiro and Baymax destroyed the drones, but Mel was also arrested under Krei's orders.
Though Krei kept the technology's plans in the end, he was not allowed to sell the Buddy Guards due to their dangerous haywire glitch, at least until they were fixed.
