Trading Chips is the first half of the fifty-third episode of Big Hero 6: The Series. It premiered on October 5, 2020, and is the first segment of the third episode of Season 3 alongside "Mini Noodle Burger Max".
Synopsis[]
Hiro switches Baymax's chip with Mini-Max's so that Baymax can rescue Mochi.
Plot[]
During nighttime, Wasabi, Fred (in his Fredmeleon suit) and Mini-Max fight against Crushroom, who caused trouble in the city by throwing and destroying random civilian cars. Fred and Wasabi are easily defeated when Crushroom entagles both with Fredmeleon's tongue, but Mini-Max flies into action. Crushroom taunts him by calling him a baby, and interrupting his heroic speech by punching him away. As Fred saves Mini-Max, Crushroom sees the chance to escape and Mini-Max expresses frustration about being called a baby by her. Fred comforts him by calling him a "big boy" and, ironically, telling him he'd get a piggyback ride back home.
The next day, Aunt Cass prepares to take Mochi to the vet for his annual check-up while at the same time Hiro and Baymax arrive at Lucky Cat Café. However, Baymax scares off Mochi by mentioning out loud that he was being taken to the vet. Cass, Hiro and Baymax go after him and the four end up in an empty warehouse. Hiro asks Baymax to scan for Mochi as they cannot find him, so the robot does as told and sees that Mochi is stuck in the vent and his paw has been injured, therefore cannot move. Baymax attempts to enter the vent but gets stuck, so Cass mentions how she wishes they had a smaller Baymax. This immediately gives Hiro an idea and calls Fred and Mini-Max for help. When both arrive, Mini-Max attempts to enter the vent to rescue Mochi himself, but is stopped by Hiro, who shuts him down by removing his programming chip and explaining that he will switch both robots' chips as they will need Baymax's nursing abilities so Mochi won't be hurt while trying to get him out.
Soon, Fred receives text messages from Wasabi mentioning that he has found Crushroom again, so he and Mini-Max (or "Maxi-Max", as he called himself while in Baymax's body) leave while Cass and Hiro solve their problem. Arriving at Wasabi's location, Maxi-Max decides that he will take on Crushroom alone, and Fred agrees that he should enjoy being the "big guy" as well as claiming that nothing could go badly. Yet, despite having the "size advantage", Maxi-Max is still defeated by Crushroom, calling their encounter humiliating after Crushroom escapes again.
Back at the warehouse, "Mini Baymax" finds Mochi and uses his collar to help with his paw problem in the meantime. He soon notices that Mochi's other paw is stuck, and before he can free it, the air conditioning system activates. The low temperature causes Mini Baymax's body to malfunction and blow him away, so Hiro figures they will need something even smaller and leaves to get his Megabots back at home.
Meanwhile at the Big Hero 6 base, Maxi-Max hides in a corner, feeling like a failure for being unable to beat Crushroom in both his own body and Baymax's body. Fred again comforts him, telling him that every hero fails once in a while no matter their size.
At the warehouse, Hiro arrives back with two Megabot-controlling headbands: one which he uses himself and the other for Cass, to release Mochi's paw with the bots' help. After Mochi is back to safety, Cass hugs the cat in happiness, and Mini Baymax reminds them again about their vet appointment, causing Mochi to become scared again. Later at Lucky Cat Café, Mochi angrily walks away and Hiro tells Maxi-Max and Mini Baymax that it's time to switch chips. Before doing this, Maxi-Max tells them to wait as he begins to dance while Hiro, Fred, Mini Baymax and the café customers simply stare. After finishing his dance he immediately opens his port for the change while telling Hiro they're ready.
Back to their original bodies, Fred receives more messages from Wasabi about Crushroom returning, so Mini-Max excitedly says it's rematch time and both leave. Upon finding Crushroom destroying the streets, Mini-Max begins to attack her, but this time uses his size to his advantage as he flies around Crushroom and makes her hit herself. Crushroom follows Mini-Max to an alley, where he tells her that he won't let her words hurt him anymore. Fred then attacks Crushroom by surprise using his Fredmeleon suit's invisibility and tongue, while Wasabi uses his plasma shields to stop Crushroom's headbutt attacks. Though it seemed that they had defeated Crushroom this time, Noodle Burger Boy immediately arrives in his go-kart to pick up and save his "sister", splattering the heroes with condiments during their escape. Despite this, Mini-Max claims that he has regained his confidence and evil won't stand a chance. Fred and Mini-Max then do their "secret handshake" that involved dancing, asking Wasabi to join in too, although Wasabi preferred not to do it.
