The time has come to cook for your life. The time has come for... Food Fight!

Yum LaBouché was the ringmaster of Food Fight and appears in the eponymous episode of Big Hero 6: The Series.

Background[]

Besides his career as ringmaster, nothing is known about Yum.

Personality[]

He appeared to like his job, and only acts according to it: he cheers the winners, mocks the losers, and gets excited when unexpected things happen.

Appearance[]

Yum is a tall Caucasian man who has orange hair and brown eyes.

He wears a red, yellow and white kimono, as well as a red bow-tie. He also wears large red-framed round glasses.

History[]

He is introduced in the Food Fight arena, after Aunt Cass enters for the first time by mistake. Yum assumes Cass knows what the deal with the competition is, but then sees she does not and explains some of it like telling her it's a dirty competition when she thinks it's "just cooking". Cass faces Bolton Gramercy first, and manages to win against him. Yum then pressures Bolton into giving Cass his knives since the rules say so, even though Cass does not seem to like it. Soon, Cass becomes a recurring competitor at Food Fight, beating all of her opponents and taking a like for Yum, she even bakes a cake and decorates it with his face.

In the match against Momakase, Yum keeps doing his job and doesn't intervene when Momakase traps Cass in a net. When the competition arena starts floating due to a gravity disruptor, Cass is set free and presents her dish to the judges, then Yum announces she is the winner while floating.

Later, Momakase is arrested for having stolen the disruptor from Alistair Krei and Cass decides to stop participating in Food Fight, so Yum is not seen again. Furthermore, in "Seventh Wheel" the Food Fight arena still serves as Momakase's hideout and she sets up a new scheme in it, but nothing regarding the competition is mentioned, so it's possible that it was ended after Momakase's initial arrest.

Etymology[]

  • Yum - It is a sound/onomatopoeia commonly used when food is pleasant.
  • LaBouché - "La" is a prefix in many surnames, and is also used as the female form of the word "the" in French. "Bouché", which is also French, can mean "clogged" or "stuffy". Something worth noting is that la bouche (without the accent) is instead translated as "(the) mouth", which could mean there is an intended pun in his name along the lines of "stuffed mouth".

Trivia[]

  • Yum's character is based on his voice actor, Alton Brown, who in real life is a food show presenter.
    • The competition he is in is even similar to Alton Brown's show Cutthroat Kitchen, where it is encouraged for chefs to use underhanded tactics.
